With nearly 20 years’ experience training singers, Dave Stroud can quickly assess any vocalist’s strengths and challenges. His love of the craft and innate drive to push students to find their potential led him to create opportunities around the world for high quality vocal education that transcends musical styles. Whether giving master classes in a university setting or preparing singers signed with prominent management companies, Stroud always keeps what is best for his client’s voice at the forefront of his teaching.

Stroud works with vocalists and entertainers of all genres. He is able to pinpoint the specific, unique skills singers must acquire to fulfill a particular role, or prepare for recording, tours and live shows. His clients have included singers such as Terry Ellis (En Vogue), Matt Scannell (Vertical Horizon), and Rosie Gaines (Prince & the New Power Generation); actors such as Evan Rachel Wood, (Thirteen, Pretty Persuasion); and stage performers such as cast members of The Lion King, Mama Mia and RENT.

Working closely with his mentor, world renowned vocal coach Seth Riggs, Dave created the Speech Level Singing™ Instructor Certification program to make the SLS method accessible to as many singers as possible. Dave also acts as a director of the Seth Riggs Entertainment Group. As a member of the SLS Instruction Management Team, he is responsible for the ongoing education of pre-certified and certified instructors.


 Until I turned to Dave Stroud, I had a constant battle with my voice when I was on tour. The pain from my strained vocal cords took a significant toll on my performances and on my enthusiasm. Dave helped me learn to control and improve my voice in ways that no other vocal coach had. He’s extremely encouraging and easy to work with, and creates an environment where it’s safe to make mistakes. My career has been improved by our lessons – and my quality of life, too. I’m no longer in pain when I sing, and I’m forever grateful to Dave for that. 

  I never leave home without my lesson CDs, which I use religiously to warm up before live shows and recording sessions. Being an R&B and gospel singer, I really have to be able to sing through my mix strongly and consistently. Dave has gotten me to the point of feeling so comfortable moving from my chest to middle to head voice, that I can sing for long periods of time without ever getting tired - He’s amazing!
